A car transporter in the Pacific Northwest found out a vital lesson about the weight of the GMC HUMMER EV and the physics of taking a turn too quickly when one is loaded on a car transport trailer.
Photos surfaced on Facebook today showing a gruesome scene. They show a car transport trailer on its side and it’s cargo, a limited edition GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 SUV, in the same predicament.
A big thanks to Jeffrey Ziegler for sharing these photos and allowing us to use them in this story. The story is told to us as such:
“…it was in Bellevue, Washington. Apparently An unsold unit most likely headed to a dealership. The transport driver took the corner too hot and flipped her. I don’t think he realized the weight of the EV weighs more than his transport truck and the fact he had it loaded up high most likely contributed to it. There was a brand new Mercedes on the load as well.”
OUCH. That’s not a good day for whoever was driving the truck pulling the trailer. While we don’t blame him or her for not knowing exactly how heavy the HUMMER EV SUV is, you’d think they would have been informed that its weight was nearly 9,000 lbs. It’s not exactly a vehicle you place on a high trailer and take a turn too fast with.
GMC’s HUMMER EV Edition 1 SUV comes with a limited edition matte green paint, a 20-module battery pack, and north of 800-horsepower. Only 2,500 of them will be made- now only 2,499 at most are left in existence.
While this particular HUMMER EV is a write-off, expect the battery pack and a lot of the non-crushed pieces to make their way to the secondary market.
