The recent stop-sale order that covered 3,500 Duramax diesel pickups has been lifted and the vehicles can once again be sold.

Yesterday, April 26th, GM dealers received an updated notice marked “URGENT – Distribute Immediately”. It carried the title “Cancellation of stop delivery order” and details how the previous stop delivery order issued in March has been canceled.

GM originally had canceled delivery and issued a stop sale for 3,500 2500HD, 3500HD, 4500HD, 5500HD & 6500HD trucks equipped with the 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine. While the exact defect GM was looking for or suspected was never released, there was some indication that it might have been related to a “Hydro-lock” issue.

The stop-sale cancellation is good news for anyone waiting for an HD Duramax Diesel truck and even better for those who had ordered trucks months ago only to have them caught up in this quality investigation before delivery.
