A small number of 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD / 3500HD & GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD Pickups were produced with the wrong trailering information label, located inside the driver’s door jam.

What is the Trailering Information Label?

The Trailering Information Label is a label found on the driver’s door jam since 2019 on most Silverado and Sierra pickups. It’s an information label customized to your truck and it’s factory configuration. It not only gives you an estimate of what you can safely tow or haul with your pickup, but it also gives you the specific capacity of your vehicle. It accounts for which engine you have, what towing features your vehicle came with, suspension options, and other available options your vehicle had equipped at the factory. It gives an absolute reference point for what weight you can safely tow and is specific to your vehicle.

What is the problem?

A limited number of 2024 Silverado and Sierra heavy-duty pickups were produced with labels that are not accurate and/or do not represent the true capacity of the truck they were installed on. It’s not clear if the incorrect labels are reading a higher or lower number than they should.

Which Vehicles Have An Incorrect Label?

The issue is limited to approximately 451 2024 Model Year Pickups. All have been sold to customers and none remain in dealership inventory.

If your vehicle was equipped with an incorrect label, you’ll receive a notice in the mail.

What Are Dealers Going To Do?

Dealers have been instructed to remove the incorrect label fully, clean the surface, and install a correct trailer safety label. Under no circumstances should dealers install the new label over the old one. The label replacement should take approximately 20 minutes or less.  The part number for a new label is #85532775 and it will be customized to your vehicle’s specific VIN.

Is This Covered By My Warranty?

Yes, this fix is covered under warranty and is a zero-cost item for owners who are affected. Owners should never pay for this label to be fixed and absolutely take the time to get a correct label installed for their future reference.
