Chevrolet’s 310-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder truck engine, the TurboMax, is getting a longer standard warranty term than Ford, Ram or Toyota offers.
Silverado buyers who opt for the small but powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine, newly named the “TurboMax” for 2024, will also get a new and longer standard warranty term.
Previously, in 2023 and earlier, Chevrolet’s 2.7L turbo engine came with a five-year or 60,000-mile warranty when purchased new from a dealer. Starting in 2024, that warranty will increase to five years or 100,000 miles.
“As we’ve said before, we engineered TurboMax to deliver the durability and performance expected by our truck customers,” said Kevin Luchansky, assistant chief engineer, 2.7L engine. “The result continues to turn skeptics into believers with best-in-class 430 lb-ft of torque and 310 HP. The whole team is proud of this engine, and this warranty extension exudes our confidence.”
Production of the TurboMax 2.7L engine begins this month for the 2024 Silverado 1500. Owners will get the engine standard on WT and LT trim levels.
Chevrolet’s warranty increase bests its closest competitors by a large margin. Both Ford, Ram and Toyota offer a five-year / 60,000-mile warranty. That means the Chevrolet TurboMax engine will be covered for 40,000 miles longer than it’s closest competitors. That’s a big deal.
