Chevrolet is pushing back the expected ordering and delivery dates for Silverado EV RST Reservation holders.
Silverado EV First-Edition RST – A Reservation We Secured Nearly Two Years Ago
January 5th, 2022. I eagerly reserved a Chevrolet Silverado EV First-Edition RST on the very day General Motors opened up reservations. Because I knew the timeline, my submission was swift at 12:55 pm- the moment the reservation page started responding and minutes before reservations “officially” started at 1 pm. The confirmation email popped into my inbox by 1:01 pm, signaling the beginning of what would become a continuing 685-day journey (as of the day this article was published).

From the outset, I knew that patience would be critical. The expected “Fall 2023” launch date for the fully loaded Silverado EV RST seemed like a distant speck on the horizon. However, as a GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 Reservation holder (and eventual owner), I was fully aware of what I signed up for when I parted with $100. A set of anticipated specifications, a target production time frame, and not much else.
Now, in the midst of “Fall 2023,” with “Winter 2023” and “2024” drawing near, our Silverado EV First-Edition RST remains a reservation and not much else. It’s not a truck in pieces waiting to be assembled; it’s not a digital entry in some order bank, nor a mere unconfirmed spec sheet sitting on a dealer’s desk. It’s still just a “reservation.”

Silverado EV – Chevrolet Sends Reservation Holders An Update
Recently, Chevrolet finally broke the silence with an update email sent to Silverado EV First-Edition RST reservation holders. The email, captured below for your reference, sheds light on the current state of affairs regarding production and the order timeline.
The email states:
We’re excited to let you know that early next year you can work with your dealer to place an order for the Silverado EV First-Edition RST. We’ll be in touch soon with more information on timing and the exact process. In the meantime, explore the cutting edge tech and game-changing features that make this the only EV worthy of the Silverado name.
The email then provides a link to the Chevrolet website section featuring the Silverado EV.
In this communication, Chevrolet doesn’t explicitly admit to a delay, but the adjusted timeline speaks for itself. The original “Fall 2023” target is now uncertain, hinting at a possible delivery window extending into 2024. And that’s not too unexpected, considering GM has already announced they would delay EV truck production at its Orion Facility by an entire year.
It’s a reminder that the road to owning an electric Silverado for many may be longer than initially expected, but we’re still firmly on the journey. Rest assured, I’ll continue to keep you informed about the Chevrolet Silverado EV First-Edition RST, sharing the latest developments as we navigate this road together and..hopefully someday take delivery.
