Independence Day is coming right up, and GMC is getting hyped for the holiday with yet another Hummer EV video. This time, the brand is highlighting the Hummer’s absolutely bonkers Watts to Freedom feature, which is like a supercar’s launch mode on steroids.

At this point in the game, the specs are widely known. Up to 1,000 horsepower and an outrageous claimed 11,500 pound-feet of torque will be on tap, which will propel the several-thousand-pound electric SUV forward with real gusto. Three seconds is all it takes to send the house-sized Hummer from a standstill to 60 mph. The vehicle lowers itself two inches and puts on a show in its digital gauge cluster and infotainment system to prepare the driver for the insanity ahead.

At the top of the film, we can see the driver preparing Watts to Freedom mode. The Hummer readies itself and advises the driver to lift off the brake, engaging the launch mode. If the numbers don’t convince you, this video will. The effect is almost cartoon-like, as the driver stomps down on the accelerator and the hefty Hummer just leans back and goes, almost like a speedboat.

GMC is understandably excited about the Hummer, which will enter production later this year. The vehicles will be built at the automaker’s Factory ZERO, Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center. The almost 40-year-old facility was retooled and overhauled to the tune of $2.2 billion, which came as part of GM’s push to increase its electric vehicle investments.
