GMC dropped some details on its Hummer EV truck. Wow!

We knew that Hummer would be the name of a GM truck and we knew that the EV trucks were headed our way. What we did not predict was the jaw-dropping performance. 0-60 in 3 seconds. That means that the GMC Hummer Truck will be one of the fastest GM vehicles ever produced and will rival every GM sports car currently produced in a sprint.

That performance is due to the truck’s 1,000 hp motor. One. Thousand. Horsepower. Sort of like an SRT Hellcat, but with 25% more power. Or about double a Corvette. And the 11,500 lb-ft torque will be at its maximum immediately upon application of the right pedal. Effectively at 0 RPM. The power pedal. Throttle and gas pedal are now meaningless.

GMC plans to advertise the new Hummer truck during a football game a few of us might be watching this Sunday. The theme will be a quiet revolution is coming. “GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC HUMMER EV takes this to new heights,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising.”

The GMC HUMMER EV will be revealed on May 20, 2020. It will be built in Michigan at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Deliveries begin fall 2021.
