General Motors is recalling a small number of GMC HUMMER EV Pickup & SUV models along with the new Chevrolet Silverado EV for a minor problem with a quick fix but potentially disastrous consequences if left unchecked.
Affected Models: N232419280 Loose Front Seat Belt Buckle Bolt Recall
- 2023- 2024 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup
- 2024 GMC HUMMER EV SUV
- 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV
- This recall covers 116 vehicles
The Issue
General Motors has initiated a recall due to a potential safety defect in certain 2023-2024 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup vehicles, as well as some 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC HUMMER EV SUV models. The issue involves the seat belt buckle attachment bolt on either the left or right front seat, which may not have been properly tightened by the seat supplier. This inadequately secured bolt could compromise the seat belt’s performance in certain crash conditions, thereby increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix
Dealers will torque the seat belt bolts to the proper specification. This process will take a qualified technician approximately 20 minutes to complete on both sides.
Affected owners will be notified and unsold vehicles will be repaired while still in dealer inventory.
