color match surround, billet bowtie.

If the color matched surround and black inserts is too dark, then I'll get CW billet inserts to give it a some contrast.

^This. :D

I like how the HDR doesn't look too "cartooney", but the halo bothers me a bit...

yeah...i'm going to do a layer mask and try to subdue that. Forgot that some of the photonerds are here too. Though i could get away with posting it as is ;) ;)

and yeah, I don't really dig "cartooney" HDRs. To my it's about getting as much detail as possible, and adding some mood. Not about being over the top.

Which I think you did pretty much perfectly, minus the halo. :fume:

I still haven't had a chance to try any HDR shots. Or shoot in RAW, since I don't have anything that I can edit RAW files in. :fume:

Personally, the halo doesn't bother me that much... I was paying more attention to the clouds and wondering what you did to do that...

I took 5 shots for a total spread of about 4 stops. For my HDRs I use Photomatix Pro, though I need to look into other stuff, as I do get tired of fighting the halos Photomatix creates at times. As far as settings in Photomatix itself, I generally use HDR tone map using the 'enhance details' process, and within that, I just tweak until I like it.

After that, I'll dink around in photoshop a bit sometimes. This time I had to clone my tubby ass out of the bumper and grill, amongst other things. I'll go back tomorrow and kill the halo as well.
