Diablo For 08 Silverados

Recommended Posts

Gains were very noticeable for my 2005, my 1/4 mile track time went from 17.4 to 16.6 with just the diablo tune.

I'm sure a custom tune may have yielded slightly better results, but some of us prefer to have the ability to change parameters anytime we want, so handhelds have their place.

I for one will be dialing in my ltft's twice a year since cold/dry winters are very different than the hot/humid summers we have here.... So ill be able to adjust my tuning per the season and have better year round results

It wouldnt be a waste of money! I have the same programmer on an 07 and got 23hp 39tq at the rear wheel diiference on the dyno. I test every mod I get on the dyno cause I have a dyno at my hand I use for free when ever. 23hp IS noticable to me. For example everything I put on the truck gets dynoed and data logged! Like a Cold air kit with tube was 17hp 22tq and the banks shorty headers was 25hp 39tq and yes even royal purple oil change in enging and rear diff was a 6 hp 8tq increase and these are all at rear wheel increases so it addes up eventally. But I want a handheld this is my work truck and dont want to change pcms for custom tunes. Plus as a GM master tech I can look into the pcm and see your custom tunes right off the bat! The dealer I worked for made me pull the program IDs anytime one came in for drivetrain issues! And void the warranty. I just want some info on this handheld for people that have used it on the 08s. But thank you for your input yes I would love to use a custom tune but I dont want to on this truck.

How can he see it if it's pulled out? That's why most people tune a 2nd set of modules and keep their stockers.

I think you need to edit your post man, there's no way you have a total increase of 71rwhp with an intake, headers, tune and gear oil.....

Lol other than that I got yer back

No thats not combined hp and tq that is each parts gain by itself it part was put on and then taken off to show how much gain each part made by itself! I have not gotten a total hp and tq with all the goodies on I will when I choose a hand held.

Correct the best way is to have a second pcm and tcm but it will also throw question to as why it has differend pcm and tcm id#s. But that is the best way to hide is to swap pcm and tcm.

On the diablo handheld once returned back to stock its very hard to find change to the pcm I would have to look too deep for that its just a waste of time! Thats why i like some hand helds.

Don't listen to them guys. It pisses me off when they try shoving Blackbear down everyone's throats when they even have the slightest mention of a handheld programmer.

I have the Diablo on my truck and I'm pleased with it. Unfortunately, they do NOT offer TCM support yet, but claim they are working on it. And, if you dial in your LTFT's as Matt said, you will really notice the increase in power.

Well, I have not had a Diablo, but I DID have an Edge, so I do have experience with handhelds and the Edge DID have TCM tuning.

Ask any tuner or anyone with a custom tune and they will tell you that 90% of the driveability improvement comes in the tranny (TCM) tuning. Most people that are tuning these new trucks are NOT specifically looking for HP increases, rather they are looking for driveability (throttle response, shifting parameters, etc) improvement. The Edge did give me more power and better shifting, but it did nothing for my TM and nannies, and therefore, I was a disappointed customer. It seems all of the handhelds have a weak point (i.e. Edge would not alter TM/Nannies, Diablo does not tune the TCM). Custom Tuning allows full access to all parameters.

No brainer IMO.

You should only be disappointed in yourself for not researching the capabilities before purchasing something then.

He already said he isn't looking at custom tunes, so give it a rest
