Ok I heard of a handling charge, but this is ridiculous.

I ordered Denali lights for my GMC. The price of the lights were $305.40. The weight of the box was 14#. The UPS charge was a total of 6.98. GMPARTSDIRECT.COM charged a whopping 54.10 in handling fees. I have one word for this: SCAMMERS.

Now it even gets worse. I thought ok, but im gettin the lights to my door at the same price my dealer would have done it for. BUT, they screw up my address and the package got delivered to the wrong house. Luckily it got straightened out, but the package was a day late. I have repeatedly emailed them with no response. I think the "handling fee" should be refunded to my because of the gross address entry error. I would maybe let this go, but for 54.10 in handling fees, it better be perfect service.

Well I have gotten no email response from them and THEY HAVE NO PHONE SYSTEM.

Yeah, that's their gimmick. A lot of online PC and electronic vendors do the same thing.

That is why I always ask for SHIPPED price on everything I buy!

They actually sell a part to you for less than cost, knowing that no other vendor can beat their bid. Therefore, they have "The Lowest Price". Then, bend over please, here comes the "handling" charge! Not shipping, but "handling".

Summit does not fall into the above category, but does do a little of the same thing. FREE SHIPPING!!! All over their catalogs! Oh, by the way, $7.99 "handling" charge.

Dal is the best guy I have dealt with. He is honest and up front. Sometimes he doesn't have the "Lowest Price", but I don't fear getting screwed by him.

BTW, his price is $171.02 each for the lights. Maybe $10 less "shipped". Nothing to feel taken advantage of, other than the shady tactics.

How about this one with GMPARTSDIRECT; they wouldn't accept my VISA credit card. I was trying to buy the Silverado Fog Light Kit. When I checked with my credit card issueing bank security department, they showed where they approved the transactions and that there was no reason for them not to accept it. Anyways, GMPD did offer to accept for one-time only a cashier's check. About this time, PartsZoneOnline became this forums preferred vendor. I cancelled my order with GMPD and placed it with PartsZoneOnline without any problems. In fact PartsZoneOnline uses USPS as well for shipping so I don't have to guess where UPS left my packages. And the prices were comparable to GMPD and MUCH better shipping costs.

I do the shipping here at work ,and let me tell you, they make a ton of money on shipping. We pass our discounts on to our customer's becuase we believe in making money off of our products not the shipping. We are a small company and have 25% discounts from various shipping companies. I am sure at the voulme some of the parts places do, they must be closer to 50% to 75% off of list. So even when they charge you normal shipping charges they are still making money off of the shipping then tack on the handing. Plus, there is no such thing as free shipping. In most cases if you compare enough, they just build their shipping costs into their prices on a lot of items. I agree with Mark D. Get the shipping and handling included on any item, then you can price compare fairly. $54.10 in handling is ridiculous, but that is the gimmic.

strange i've NEVER been charged high for shipping

I just ordered escalade interior handles and the price of shipping as 6.86 for BOTH handles

when I ordered a bumper cap for my grandfathers truck it was only 15 bux shipping.

guess it pays living not far from North Carolina

I ordered from them too, sent me the wrong parts and still waiting to be credited to my Charge Card.

Won't be ordering from them again, its cheaper to go to your local Dealer. They are Ripoffs with shipping and handling.

P.S. Summit is another one to watch out for, as I ordered from them and they pulled a fast one on shipping with me.

So, beware of them as well. But, the GMPartsDirect is still the biggest ripoff, which goes under the name of Flow Chevrolet.

local dealers are no where near cheaper than gmpd

the local sales wanted 1200 f&$#ing dollars for a center console and gmpd price was 180 dollars.

most local dealers will rip you a new one because the pretty much can.

least online there's no tax's yet.

When your charged $20.00 for shipping and handling and you return the same package for $3.95..Trust me..they are ripping you off!!!!

I understand that the high cost of shipping is suppose to help them support their website. However, where is the savings to us?? I got the same part at my local dealer for the same price as GMDirect was charging..so, what is the purpose of going through them??? NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I learned a long time ago that they ripped people off. I paid $40 for shipping for a part that weighed less than a pound.

I've bought tons of sh*t from GMPD.com from simple trim and interior parts to engine and A/C stuff and never had a problem with their shipping costs.

The only time I had a problem with them was actually a lack of parts. I couldn't find the part#'s for the sway bar bolts for the Z. It took them about two days to get back to my e-mail requesting the part#'s and when they did they asked me for my vin#. I know why, but it's irrelevant on friggin sway bar bolts.

They finally gave me the part#'s and I just ended up getting them from the dealer anyway.
