Under Seat Storage Box

Recommended Posts

Yes indeed...apparently these are supposed to retail for $575 or so(if you can believe that).  Due to some sort of computer error and such, I got 1 shipped to me for $67 and change.  Yes the figure is right.  If interested, I'd call Chris in parts at Garber Chevrolet in Midland, MI...989-839-9944.  He was extremely helpful.  Told me the stuff would be shipped out Friday.  It arrived to me(out of state)that same Friday.

Kewl I did not know GM had them.  I just looked into getting them.  The dealer  advised me he can order them in for $85 cnd.  When the dealer checked stock on part number 15175440 he said that his system said there was not any available in US or Canada and it may take a few weeks to get them in.

There is a long and tangled story on the box.  It popped up for around $40.  Then as poeple got them, the numbers dropped out. I was told by dealers in TX, OK, LA, FLA that the ACDelco numbers and GM numbers were no longer valid. They also told me it was an option that you could get the box if you bought a truck. Now, they are saying June 10th or so and $800-1000 for a plastic box. A couple of poeple ordered at $40-70 and when it came in, it had the higher price and they declined.

So, it is kind of wide open as to whether or not you can find it and how much it will be  in the end.

Tx has it right.  Apparently as dealers have figured out the pricing error, there have been steady increases, etc.  That's why if it looks good to you and you'd like one, I would recommend the dealer/parts guy I noted above.  Service was exceptional.  There was a difference in shipping that I wasn't quote initially and they picked up the cost.  Just trying to toss something good along when I find it.

Has anyone been able to find out the correct part number for this box? It is really nice. I contacted my local dealer and they couldnt pull up anything on it at all.  I have tried to contact Chris per another post at Garber Chevrolet, but havent been able to get a hold of him yet. Ill keep trying but was curious if anyone had any new information.

Thanks in advance- Patrick

Called Chris in MI and they have gone up to $575 and Tony's in Alaska has gone up to $600+.  So, if you have not located one, you may not. If you find any, it would be helpful to post.

btw-the part #'s were:

15175440 ACDelco

15083315 GM

but, those are most likley not valid any more.

Ah, that sucks.  I had a feeling that eventually the price correction would likely find its way across the board to all parts people.  The only suggestion I might have at this point is to find someone who ordered a bulk of them while they were cheap.  I know someone on pacific audio's forum had done so and was going to sell me 1 for $345.  That was more than I could spend, so I checked around and got darn lucky.  With a bit of work, I'm sure there are other similar units out there- maybe not locking, but nonetheless.

The Chev dealer in Gananoque Ontario Canada advised:

15175440 is a valid GM part number.  I spoke with GM about ordering directly from them they advised the part number is valid GM part number but I would have to order from the dealer.  I confirmed with the dealer 15175440 is being sold for $85 cdn but his system does not show stock in the US or Canada.  So I had him order one in.  If the dealer tries to  charge me more than the quoted $85 I just wont buy it..

Sounds good Bluelab.  That's the way to go if you can get someplace that can order 1.  I know the dealers here in Northeast Ohio had no clue how to find it even with the part numbers, that's why I went with Garber because someone on another forum had mentioned them.
