Volant Ram air

Recommended Posts

I'd be interested to hear more about this system.  I heard on this or another forum that somone found that the Volant actually restricted air flow.  In what situation I don't know.

I like the idea that its a 'closed' system and I like the idea of the cold air pickup.  Is that the only inlet for the airbox or does it also keep the factory holes as well?

I can somewhat see how that cold air snorkel may cause some restriction, but without it, I can't say.

Where that air snorkel attaches to the air box is where mine is simply open looking straight to the ground.

Essentially you remove the factory steel mount/tray then bolt the airbox down to another bracket/tray that has the hole it breathes straight through to the ground.

I haven't had any problems with it, I noticed sharper throttle response and the engine doesn't need to wind up as much before shifting to the next gear.  It is also accompanied by more intake noise, but I like that.

Where can you get a deal on them.  They are pretty pricey.  I'd like to go to a closed system and I like the idea of the cold air pickup but not sure its worth all that over the UPD??

Things that make you go hhmmmmm   :ehh:
