Getting my bedliner this weekend

Recommended Posts

Saw all the posts about the Rhino liner and was really impressed but decided to go with the Line-X.  Got the prices to be exactly the same and the 2 Rhino dealers I called were less than enthused about the product.  One even told me that Rhino liners were a flat price wether it was a short or long bed or over or under???

The guys at Line-X were very responsive and took the time to talk and answer questions.  I'll let you know and post pics after I get it.

What color did you get the Line-x in?? I have a friend who has a silver F350 with a matched line-x and it has already faded and looks really bad. Don't know what to tell you if you got a custom color. I have a Rhino and it is awesome, still looks new!!

I've heard that about all the custom colors.  My truck is a truck.  I'm getting the liner for protection - not looks basic black, and if it fades its not the end of the world unless it stops protecting.

In fact the dealer I'm dealing with suggested a UV topcoat if I were going to get a custom color, and even said that didn't completely fix the fading problem.  They were currently testing a new product that they hope will work better.

Did they offer any guarentee with the custom color liner?

Did he have any UV Protectant on it?

They said his warranty would not cover fading. He used some type of protectant that his dealer gave him. He hauled a LOT in his truck. He would take alot of semi truck tire chains to the scrap yard. Those are mean. I didn't buy mine for looks either, I use it alot. But if I was going to pay 350 for my bedliner i wanted it to look good after i used it. Good luck with yours and i hope it doesn't fade on you.  :)

I live in Texas and park outside 24/7, the problem I have seen with the liners is that they not only fade but they get chalky. You can actually rub your hand on it and its black/grey, very nasty IMO.

I want a liner that not only protects the bed but still allows me to sit on the tailgate without ruining a pair of pants.

Any suggestions?

Since you are in TX, you may want to look at Speedliner out of Houston.  www.speedliner.com

SPEEDLINER is a tough, thick, rubberized coating, which protects surfaces from weathering, corrosion and abrasion. Designed for high performance under extreme conditions, SPEEDLINER enhances a wide range of products, from marine and industrial equipment to the bed area of pick up truck

SPEEDLINER has exceptionally high resistance to the harsh effects of the sun's ultraviolet rays, keeping its color for years and years. SPEEDLINER's toughness and unique chemistry have made it the #1 choice for repairing other liners that have failed and gone bad. Look at this example of a badly faded green liner done by one of our competitors and how it was revitalized with SPEEDLINER. The beautiful metallic emerald green SPEEDLINER will look fantastic for years to come

http://www.speedliner.com/examples.htm

SpeedLiner has a tensile strength of 4,200 psi and a tear strength of 610 lbs/in compared to 2200 psi. SpeedLiner can be made in any color, even two-tones or graphics and is color stable, and is a non-skid textured surface.

Well I'm loving the Line-X.   Admittedly I've only had it a few days but I don't have to worry about the condition in the future because it has a Nationwide Lifetime warranty:

LINE-X offers a Lifetime National Warranty. It is warranted for as long as you own the vehicle for pealing, blistering, flaking, bubbling or other workmanship issues.   If you happen to move, the warranty is covered by our extensive network of over 400 dealers nationwide.

Line-X has products with tensile strength up to 6600 psi.

I have the Rhino lining product in the pewter color.  Very happy with the results.  Going on 5 months, during winter, spring, and summer condions.

The Rhino, Line-X, Speedliner, and maybe others use the UV to keep from fading.  All good products and excelent warrenties.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.  Just don't go with the drop ins or the role ons.  Junk IMO.

That liner in the add looks like crap.  Runs and the color fade is awfull.  Probably a job done long ago when they first started to come out.  The UV is a fairly new idea.  Only time will tell.

I would agree, and said so in earlier posts, that ALL of these products would be fine. Every maker will try to sound better than the others. Just marketing.

We don't have a Line-X or Rhino dealer here. If we did, I would go with the best price, probably.  I don't care to drive 90-180 miles for a bedliner.

I think 5000 lbs might be pushing it for my half ton :0  but I assure you it will be put to the test.  Within the first week it has already had a demolished cement and brick front stoop (she was squatting a bit) and a dilapidated old pressboard desk thrown in it.  Not much I know but so far so good.  :)

How much did the liner cost?

Did you get the bedrails done too?

  • 5 weeks later...

I had the line-x in my ZR2, was four years old when i got rid of it. I loved the line-x. Only had one problem, it was my fault, was putting a sled in the back and spun the track, the studs tore up the tailgate. Went to the dealer who sprayed the truck, he fixed it for free, i was very impressed. Had the basic black, over the rail in the tail gate only. As soon as i scrape up the extra 400 bucks my HD will have it also.
