My Truck

the truck is complety standard. i ran a 15.4 with a .7 reaction time and alot of spin. i earwill be improving on that alot this year.

That's not too bad for a stock truck with 80000 miles. Once you go adding more power, I'm sure you know the wheel spin is just going to increase.

Since, I am handing out recommended websites, I also suggest going to this site.

Calvert Racing They make a set of CalTracs for your truck. They are great! It's amazing what they can do for traction.

i've been searching for some of those for a bit, they do seem like a nice set. the only prob i will have is traction but i should be able to knock some time off my reaction time which will help my overal time.

then the tuning will begin. just need to decide what route i am going to go down.

thanks for the comments

Awesome. I look forward to seeing the progress.

I'm not sure how they time things in the UK, but over here, and I would assume there reaction time does not add anything to our Elapsed Time. The clock does not start until you move and reaction time is the time from light turns green until you move.

So basically, you could have a 30 sec reaction time and still run a 15.4 sec 1/4 mile.

But traction can/will effect your reaction time. If your truck spins before leaving, you actually sit there for a split second before the clock starts. That's why the caltracs would be good to look into. The first 60ft is the most important part of the run. It's estimated that for every 0.1sec you take off your 60ft time you will take off 0.2sec of 1/4 mile time.

thats interesting,

here the time you from when the lights go green, so your reaction time plays a big part in it. so in theroy should be able to remove .2 or .3 from my overal time once my reactions have improved.

Cool, I learn something new every day.

So what kind of dragracing do you have over there? I mean is it all heads-up style racing (first car to the stripe wins) or do you have E.T. racing also?

Reaction times being timed like that would make E.T. style racing tough I would think.

Sorry I keep going. I can talk about Dragracing all day long :D

there are many different classes depending on what you want to do.

in my altered dragster bracket racing, which means you have to get closet to dial in time every time.

whereas most are whoever goes over the line first wins.

there is a big mixture of styles here in uk, how about in US?

It's kinda the same here. Three main types Heads Up, Bracket and Index. Then within those there are hundreds of different classes. Most of the Professional stuff is all heads up, but most of the classes the little guys with not so deep pockets run in is either bracket or index.

I run in some heads-up street car races every now and then, but most of my racing is Bracket occasionally I will run an 11.0 Index class.

Once I get my suspension dialed in and start spraying a little NOS, I plan or running some 9.90/10.0 classes :D
