Window tint

Recommended Posts

Got my side windows tinted last night and I'm not real pleased. They were done at 18% and they look good depending on how you look at them. Sometimes they look grey almost silver and from the inside out kinda foggy. Is this from the kind of  tint or the density.

yea that doesnt sound right

I have mine tinted (one of cheapest and best mods)

From far away they look like they are as dark as the ext cab windows.  If you get up close however they are dark (black) but slightly less than the ext cab windows (i did it as dark as i could go legally)

My rear window has 20% tint from the factory and my side windows are the max allowed 30%. (I have a regular cab)  All of mine is just black tint.

I think they look good.  Can't really tell that they are a different tint (which is what I wanted).

(The % in window tint typically refers to the amount of light they let in so the lower the number, the darker the tint- a little confusing I know).

Brand new tint is usually a little foggy until it has time to set/dry  (give it about a week).

As for it being different colors???  Did you get a metallic tint?  The titanium tints tend to immitate surrounding colors so it will be different depending on where you park, the light conditions, etc...

Any tint in Ill. is illegal so I'm kinda running that risk. I think your right CityTruck, the gray will probably come out over time. I'm going to have to take it back anyway cause the drivers window is starting to bubble   I've seen this guy's work on a lot of other trucks and it looks awesome, and I didn't think $70 was bad either.

The bubbles (if little) will go away as it cures over the next week as well.  Couldn't hurt to have them look at it though.

He beat me to it.

If after a week it still has streak marks, blotchiness and or little microscopic bubbles, take it back to be re-done, otherwise it takes a day or two to cure.  Putting it in direct sunlight will speed up the process.
