P.A. 3" Body Lift 99-up Silverado

Recommended Posts

Well, I've got my body lift and got the tires, so there's no turning back now.  I'll be installing the body lift myself in the next few weeks hopefully and wanted to know what tools I'm going to need to do it and any pointers from anyone who's installed it themselves.

Also, how long did the install take you?  It'll be me and two other people most likely.

I would think a good selection of wrenches/sockets/ratchets (or air tools if you have access to them), drill and drill bits (for the parking brake cable extention), floor jack, block of wood to put on the head of the jack, torque wrench, sawsall or something similar (for the frame horns), dremel tool might come in handy for any minor trimming, and I can't hink of anything else right now.

I don't have mine yet, so I'll be needing this info to in the next couple months.  :)

Okay, the power tools shouldn't be a problem, I've got access to all those at work, so I can borrow them for the weekend, or just rob them from my dad's work truck.  I may actually use the shop here to do the install if I can't find another place.

I think I need to take a trip to the hardware store and get a breaker bar, a 1/2" socket set and a torque wrench.

Are the body bolts metric?  And what size do I need up to?

18mm for the body mounts and bumper bolts.  There may be an additional size for the bumpers because I wasn't able to check them all, but all that I did check, were 18mm.

Also, if you have the factory class III hitch, you'll need a 21mm for the two bolts that attach to the bottom of the bumper, right over the reciever.

Thanks for checking tom, I just unloaded my new tires into the garage.  I'll post some pics of them and the b/l parts in here tonight, but right now gotta enjoy the weather before the sun goes down....  Okay, I'm cleaning out the garage, I can't get the tires to fit in there.  They look massive though, but I held them up against my 265's and they only look slightly bigger, must be an optical illusion, but all I've got to say is they look gnarly.

Another thing on the sockets.  I happen to check them all with a deep well, but didn't pay attention to whether or not there was enough room for a rachet on all of them.   The body mounts should be no problem, but some of the bumper bolts may require standard length sockets.

Sorry, I didn't think to check that.  ???

Looking forward to the pics.  :)

Let me know what you think of your xterrians I have the mt now and I love them. Im thinking of putting xterrians on my 2500 but it will be a while .

So far they're great, really holding down the garage floor.  But, they look gnarly and from what I've heard they're great for all types of terrain and wear well.  I'll let you guys know how they go.

And my plans are to get some A/R rims in a few months when I've got the money for them.  Probably get 5 and another xterrain so I can have a full size spare.

Nice lookin' tires Jon. Are those 305/70's? Did you decide on any wheels yet?

As for the socket sizes, you better check. It depends on if the truck came from Canada or Mexico (I think). My '98 Chev had standard size bolts and my '00 has metric.

Good luck with the lift and take alot of pics.
