Edge Evolution Programmer

Any aftermarket programmer/tuner will void your powertrain warranty if the dealer can prove that the tune caused the part in question to fail.

That being said, I have the Diablo Sport Predator for my truck. I considered the Edge, but the Predator has many more options for dialing in the tune specifically for your truck including the option to disable the AFM.

another warning...i was told that dealers can pick the computer in the truck and detect whether an programmer has been used or not. i know a lot of you have them thinking that 'oh i can just return the truck back to stock before i take it to the dealer'- yes you can but be advised an educated tech at the dealer will still know your dirty secret

Man, it seems like I say this a lot, but I will say it again.

Get a Blackbear tune. You can get an extra set of computers (ECM/TCM) from Justin for cheaper than about any where else. Plus the gains are better than about anyone else's tune. Ask Vmax2007 (Jeff), he has had 3 different tunes and Blackbear is the one he likes the best.

Justin can make any adjustments you want made...Remove TM (torque management), remove all the little enannies that make these trucks horrible to drive, Take away or increase the time AFM is on, change shift points, change shift firmness, adjust your tow/haul mode to make it more of a race mode (if you want). Plus, if you are not happy with the tune he will adjust it for free.

No warranty issues as long as you get a spare set of computers, it takes 5 minutes to pop out the stock computers, put in the new/tuned ones or if you are going to the dealer, you pop out the tuned ones and snap in the stock ones. No one knows.

False. Swapping of ECM/TCM is still detectable.

Care to expand? Do you know something the rest of the guys here don't? I am interested in finding out more.

I did a lot of research on this before I got a tune, including emailing multiple tuners, and this is the first time I have heard that the dealer can detect it.

I understand how they can detect a reflash that is fully understood, but fill me in on this.

I don't know the exact procedure the dealer used, but my uncle has an '08 Silverado that he had custom tuned (tuner will remain nameless) and he went into the dealer because the tranny went out on him. He had spare ECM/TCM modules that he carried with him in the truck and he swapped them before the tow truck came to get him. Well needless to say his warranty was denied because they found out the computer had been fudged with.
