Fender Flares

Hey guys,

Looks like a great Forum.  Just a quick question.  Just picked up my 2002 Z71 and am looking to get Fender Flares to help protect it.  Looks like GMC wantes about $170 per pair for the black ones.  Anyone else have experience with the OEM flares or aftermaket ones?  Thanks

Welcome to the site Tobes.  We hope you enjoy yourself hee and feel free to jump in on any topic.  :)

I have Bushwacker Street Flares on my truck.  They are lower profile than the stock flares and not as wide as the stock ones either.  The main reason I wanted them was for protection of the inside lip of the wheel well and I didn't really care for the chrome/stainless steel trim that was available.  I got mine from JC Whitney for around $200.00 for all 4 after using a 15% off coupon they had on the cover.  Very easy to install and they are paintable if you want to do that.  I like the way they fallow the shape of the wheel wells, unlike the factory ones.

Here's a few pics:  My Flares

Oh yeah, if you notice, the molded part of my mud flaps have faded since this past summer.  I'm working on painting that part and have the fronts done, but still need to finish the back ones.  The fronts turned out really well.  The molded rubber matches the flares great.  :D

Thanks.

I got the mudflaps from the Sears Automotive catalog.  They are the Powerflow Ultimate Fit series.  They were actually made for the factory flares, but with some minor cuting and trimming, I got them to work with the Bushwackers.  They are a two piece mudflap.  The rubber molded part attaches to the hard plastic flap and then it mounts to the fender lip.  I had to drill 4 holes per flap to mount them.  I used some silicone sealant in and around the holes/screws to seal it all up.
