I was looking at a new truck magazine I got yesterday, and noticed this thing.

Now is it just me, or does this thing seem pointless?  Why not just spend some money on a heavy duty bumper thats not going to dent when you back into stuff?  I've backed into stuff when out off-roading that would smash this little thing up, yet it didn't dent my rear bumper....

Can you say profit from yuppies?  Sure looks like pretty cheap stuff for a protection accessory.  Seems to me the way its mounted will still wreck the bumper if you give it a strong blow.

I'm not too worried about my bumper. I got rear ended once in my 1989 2500 and it only got one little dent in the bumper. the guy that hit me totaled his car though.

Isn't that the reason we put bumpers on the back of vehicles?  That is like washing your dishes in the sink before putting them in the dishwasher  ;)
