Av v. Hairy Dog

Recommended Posts

We have a wonderful long haired, black lab who loves to ride (and shed) in the truck.  However, the Av needs something to cover the slippery backs of the folded-down seats.  Wal-Mart sells two-piece rubber backed kitchen carpet runners (a long one and a short one)that do the trick.  We bought two sets that match (each other, not the truck interior) and wrap one long one vertically over the folded seat bottom and the other long one across the folded seat back.  The short pieces fit into the two spaces just in front of the midgate.  If one of my sons is along, I roll the rugs back and flip up the right side jump seat.  On longer trips, the dog's cedar chip bed fits on the left side.  When carrying only passengers, the rugs roll up and are placed just behind the midgate.  Yes, I spoil my dog.

Sorry cant help but a warning

Watch your dogg when it is in the bed

I had my golden retriver in the bed of my truck when it was new.  My mom came home and he got excite.  His front paws went over the side rail and down the side of my truck.  Not good but i got em out

He loves the very back i throw him back there when i am in the yard.  I think it has something to do with the rhino liner

We adopted our dog later in her life.  According to her health records, she fell out of a pickup bed and broke a leg as a young adult.  She does not ride in the bed of my truck - ever.  Well, maybe I'll drop the midgate sometime and leave the bed cover on and see what she does.

We have a boxer-I taker her everywhere I can with me.  She rides in the ext cab with the seat folded up so no hairs on any of the seats.  I just put some throw rugs down and she has room to stretch out and sleep.  She's just tall enough to look out of the side rear windows when sh stands up.  Nice thing is if I have to brake or accelerate suddenly she can't be thrown far-back of front seats or against the floded up back seat.

Man I never let her ride in the bed-my wife would maim me  :) if anything happened to that dog!

We have two labs and they are constantly shedding.  One is black the other yellow.  We bought the truck so they could ride in the back and i wouldn't have to clean up the inside to remove all their hair.  Currently they ride enclosed with the cap but in the summer i rigged up a harnes for them so they can't jump out but can get their heads over the rail and let their gums flap!
