Soft tonneau cover

Recommended Posts

I'm just about to order a tonneau cover for my truck....  Does anyone have any experience with the snapless covers from Lund?  Summit has the Lund Elite that are snapless or the Premier which has the snaps for $30 less (but it's backordered according to the website).

Has anyone used these snapless covers?  How does it work in the freezing cold?  Does the latching scheme hold up well?  It should for $230.

TIA

Hey Scooter,

Hope you didn't make that purchase yet. Though I have not had any experience with Lund, I have had experience with the snapless covers. If you live anywhere that has snow (you did say freezing  :D ), then don't get one! Get the snaps! I have seen many snapless covers in my neck of the woods (Mass) and they just don't seat right after a while. Most of the ones I have seen, the back corners near the tailgate won't re-attach.

On another note...I buy Extang (going to being making a purchase within the next month, this will be my 4th one) from my local aftermarket shop. They sell Lund as well (for around the same price) and always recommend Extang. I asked about the snapless a while back and they only recommend it for warmer climates.

I'm not a salesman for Extang or anything, just always had wonderful results from the product. My Extang cover even saved my truck bed from being demolished from a broken tree limb. If I didn't have the cover on that night (huge storm) I would have needed some body work done to the bed. Not saying a Lund wouldn't have done the same...

Just my $.02

Thanks Bassdog.  That's what I was worried about.  I saw a snapless one here in the parking lot at work and the rear corners weren't sealed.  (I'm in Michigan, but moved here 2 years ago from north-central Mass.)  I haven't ordered yet...  I just found the Extang online and was wondering about it.  You answered my next question w/o having to ask it.

Scooter I have a Access Roll up tonneau cover.  It doesn't have snaps it uses velcro on the sides to keep is down.  It's worked great here in Anchorage, been below zero last 2 weeks and I can still roll it up with no problems.  Might want to take a look at this one.

Thanks for all the input.  I ordered the Extang the other day and it should be here next week.  I thought about the Blackmaxx like duplantisjj got, but I didn't really like the fact that the frame is aluminum and nylon, so I got the regular one that's all aluminum.

The Extang got some solid reviews from guys here and the cover is warranteed for 10 years, the frame forever.  Good enough for me.
