BFG tires

I see most of the people here with either a K Series or a Silverado is running BFG 285's.  

I am half way through my second set.  I was thinking about going with a set of 295's when these wear out.  Just curious if anyone has tried them to see how they fit.  

I was planning on adding a set of wheels similiar to what DigUout is running.  (Nice truck by the way)

I have a friend who just put a set of 31x10.50 BFG M/T on his jeep.  I figure that when I am ready to buy my next set of tires he will have had his for about a year.  If the M/T are wearing good, I think I'm gonna get me a set of them.

Shortly after purchasing my current tires, 4 Wheel & Off-Road did an article on BFG tires and they said that the A/T's and M/T's are made out of the same compounds and should last about the same, although I would expect the M/T doesn't last quite as long.

I don't think you can get 295's on a stock truck without a lift.  They may fit if you crank the torsion bars to the max, but that is a bad idea and the ride would likely be unbearable and put premature wear on your suspension components. I've seen guys post that with a 3 inch body lift you could use up to 315's, but I haven't seen one myself.

 The M/T's won't last as long as the A/T's on a lot of paved road driving.  They're just not made for that kind of use.  I would put M/T's on a jeep or truck that I mostly off road with, just not on my daily driver.

295's will work with stock rims with a little torsion bar cranking. With aftermarket rims I'm not sure. You might only have to trim the bumper valance a bit, so they might work with different rims. Hope this helps.

Not a concern.  The truck is mine.  My wife has her own car.  

I don't mind turning the torsion bars a little.  I also don't mind trimming the fenders and bumper.  I've been thinking about replacement front fenders that have larger openings.  Then on the rear adding a set of the OE style flares so the wheel openings match.

Just to put some minds at ease about my plans, I will NEVER sell this truck.  I had a 92 that I said the same thing about.  It wasn't for sale.  I was t-boned at 60 miles an hour.  You don't rebuild after an accident like that.  Same goes for this truck.  Nor for sale.  Gonna have to be totaled to be replaced.

flares would be a good idea.

Larger tires will throw alot of rocks

i know form this past weekend my 285's threw alot of rocks i hate the tink tink tink noise.  I have flares and mudflaps and that always doesnt work.

I know the A/T's send a lot of rocks airborne.  That is just one more reason for going with the M/T.  They have more space between the lugs which means that I'm not gonna get a lot of the smaller rocks shooting around, unless they are packed with mud.  The downside is, if they do find a rock big enough to be shot out, it is gonna do some damage.
