4" Rancho!

Recommended Posts

I had my 4" Rancho suspension installed yesterday, and let me tell you, it is AWESOME!!!!  My truck rides better than EVER before.  The people at NTB did my wheel aligmnment and did a SHITTY job, and the truck still rides nice.  The suspension handles bumps luxuriously (but like a truck).  Hope ya'll follow that comment.

Anyway, it looks great, and I am very happy with it.  I only have 33" tires, which make them look a little small, but it allows them to perform to their potential.  I took them off the path yesterday for a dry run, and man what a rush!

I love my truck, and I definitely love the new suspension.

Rancho = ROCKS!!!!

Grade = A+++

Hey Kaspar glad to see you finally got it. Who installed it for you? And what location NTB (I am from houston too)? 4WP on 1960N did my installation and just like you I am not satisfied with the front end alignment. I don't know who did mine but its not quite right. I am calling around other 4WD shops to see who they use. I am looking at Bumberas Performance Center (Firestone dealer) on HWY6 who was referred to me from Coyote off road. Well see.

I also had mine installed at 4WheelParts on 1960 (I live about 2 miles away from there).  They did a good job on the truck, BUT they were out of the shock boots I wanted so now I have to go back to get some!!!!  They didn't put ANYTHING on there!  Plus, they don't know how to judge time.  They might tell you it'll be a 3hr install time for whatever, and 3 days later, you are still wondering what the #### is going on back there.  SO, from now on I am only taking my truck there when I can't POSSIBLY figure it out how to do the work.  (Sorry for the rant).  Anyway, they took the truck to the NTB at 45 & 1960.  First of all, those jokers are ALSO slow (I waited for 2 1/2 hours) and they didn't do a good job.  I mean, I got into my truck and the steering wheel had to be cocked about a quarter of the way to go straight.  It went pretty straight, but the **** steering wheel doesn't match the alignment.  Ridiculous.   Also, Chad at 4WheelParts told me, they have a contract with that NTB.  Thing is, I don't think I should have to PAY for it to have it fixed.

Another thing, at 4WheelParts (they told me this after the installation), if there needs to be warranty work on the install for parts breakdown, labor problems, etc, you have to PAY LABOR costs for them to do the work.  That is totally assinine!!!!

I love the install, it was done solid, but the little things about the whole process of getting it done, are biting my a$$ if ya can't tell :)

Thanks for reading....

I try not to deal with 4WheelParts here in Austin unless I have to. I did purchase my Rancho kit from them but I installed it myself. It took me 3 days, same amount of time they told me they would have my truck. I had a friend align it for me at his Firestone and whenever I've needed to go back he's hooked me up. He also said these trucks are hard to align after a kit has been installed, they have to get it right or your tires will wear uneven. He's done so many , he knows how to do it. Plus you can't beat a free alignment!

Well Kaspar yours sounds exactly like mine. The wheel is cocked at about 9 and 2 o-clock position when going straight. I found an alignment shop that does 4wd trucks and motorhomes as well. The name of the shop is Bumbera performance center Firestone 281-493-9300. I called and spoke with the owner Kenny Bumbera and he said it would run between ? and ?. The ? is what they charge for motorhomes. He told me he could give me a price when if I let him look at it. I think I am gonna make an appointment soon. I will keep you posted.

BTW.....Check and make sure that 4WP installed the rear bumpstop spacers, without them you could bottom out really bad. Besides you paid for them, and I don't think Rancho would design something you don't need. I had them install them during my 10 day check-up. Here is a picture with the bumpstop installed.
