AV Appearance Care

Recommended Posts

I have read a lot about waxes and polish for the paint on this BB and others but I can't find much about taking care of the leather interior and the body clad on my AV.

I have never had leather in any car until I got my AV about a month ago.  What are you experience with products to care for the leather?

I asked Zaino Brothers, via e-mail, what they recommended for the AV exterior clad and they weren't much help.  If the clad is non-porous, use the main polish products.  If it porous, (or textured) use their tire treatment products.  The cladding is textured but not porous.  What is everyone else using?

Thank you in advance :D  :D  :D

As for the cladding I'd clean it with a mild soap and water.  Stay away from wax, or it will look like crap!!!

I use Maguirs "One Step Leather Care".  It is a liquid cleaner/conditioner and when you are done your interior smells like a new leather coat.

If the leather is extremely dirty, wash it with soap and water, and let it dry before using any other products.  The ArmorAll wipes work OK in a pinch, but they tend to leave lint on everything.

i would suggest using a conditioner for the leather twice a year.  My mom has been doing this on her 00 blazer with leather (first vehicle she has owned with leather) and it still looks like new (its a 00 model)

Thank you for the replies.  Based on what has been said here and on other sites, the leather seats need to be treated with a conditioner twice a year or so and cleaned carefully.  There is no real strong product preference similar to what I read about Zaino.

It is still not clear to me what to do about the Avalanche cladding.  I am getting conflicting information.  Has any Avalanche owner have some experience cleaning and protecting the cladding?  What did you do and how does it look.  I can always experiment on small sections to see, but I hoping to learn from others experiences.

Thanks again for all your help.

I am using stuff called 303 Aerospace Protectant on my cladding. It is hard to find. I got mine from a local boat store, and from a mail order boat supply catalog.

My new boat manual reccomended it over products like Armor All, since the 303 does not contain silicone, and it dries better than Armor All. I really like the results on vinal, and I do my cladding with it also. It seems to last longer than AA, and it does not leave that greasy feel to it. And bugs, & grime wash right off.
