8.1 FIPK findings

Recommended Posts

Hey guys....

Just wanted to see if I could generate some conclusions from others here.  I put my FIPK on the truck about a month ago, and while I have noticed an increase in HP and in motor noise(ol' four barrel sound), I have also found that on the highway it has dropped about 1 mpg and in the city, as much as 2-3 mpg.  I was suprised to see this.  Everything I had read showed that their FIPK's were getting them better mileage.

Anybody else having this happen to them??

Viper, I don't know where you are from, but the cold weather makes a big difference in mpg's around here...

Plus, if you are hearing the 4-barrel sound, then you may be more aggressive with your right foot now.  I know I almost always got worse milage with performance mods, because after they were done I had to put my foot in it more to really appreciate them.

when I had the K&N FIPK on my 5.3L, if I drove a "normal" tank of fuel through it I gained about 1/2 mpg.  My problem was I liked the sound of it and usually couldn't stay out of the throttle...  So performance was up, but mpg's were flat...

Yeah, Thanks guys.  I kinda figured that the winter weather here in Idaho was causing some losses, and yes I'm guilty of putting my foot in it from time to time.  Or all the time for that matter.  It's just too darn hard not to.

Anyhow, thanks and Merry Christmas to ya guys

Sean
