That last picture gives you a good size perspective, between the size of the ants.. er, I mean PEOPLE.. on the ground vs. the size of the 747 and the Space Shuttle.

Not too many more snaps after that last picture, I found out the battery in the camera was dead..... as was the battery in the bag.. :dunno::crackup::crackup::dunno:

Thanks for the pics. I've seen it when it has stopped over here a few times. I still remember the first time years ago, I think the whole town came out to see it. They opened the base so everyone could get a close look. Did you take these from work, or did you just go over there?

Thanks, Darin & Darral!

Yeah, we're probably remembering the same time. My parents kept me out of school that day and took me out there. It was fun and memorable.

As for where I took the pictures from....... I guess you could say a took a long smoke break and drove over there..

Work didn't page me while I was gone. So, no harm, no foul. (And I told my boss before I stepped out for those few minutes 'just in case.') :dunno:

Pretty cool Michael. Dead batteries suck  .

Thanks!

Yes, dead batteries suck... BIG TIME! I'm charging one of them up now... I'll start the other one, later tonight. I was hoping to get one of them charged before sundown, but I'm doubting that'll happen... I may drive back over that way, anyway, to see if they have the shuttle lit-up... Maybe I can figure out a way to get closer and get some bigger / better shots.:dunno:

Those pics are awesome...as is the shuttle. On occassion it has to land here in Ca. at Edwards AFB...when it does it flies right over my place, and we can hear two VERY loud booms. It's still going faster than the sound barrier when it passes overhead

Thanks, everyone!

I agree with you, Steven. I'd really like to go see a launch before they're decommissioned. I tried to figure out a way to do it this year. But, I never could get the time off available when they were actually going to launch. (And it's not like the launch schedules are exactly set in stone, either.)

Anyway! Here are a few more pics from tonight... I got closer than the first pictures, but not close enough to get sent to Gitmo! :D (Only about 3/4 of a mile away, this time.)

I'd like to go back out there in the morning and get some shots with the sun reflecting off of the shuttle. But, we'll see how early I get up in the morning............ :P
