aftermarket electric cooling fans?

Recommended Posts

I know of one guy who did it.  It free'd up a lot of room in the truck.  W/O the fan shroud he put his Cone filter right up to the throttlebody.  He said there was a performance gain.  I guess you would probably only need one if you were going really high performance.  I think I've got an email from him about what he used.  I'll post it if I do.

my previous truck, '83 full size 4wd, 402 big block, had electric fans. I didn't buy aftermarket, I adapted  car fans to the truck radiator. It worked great, a lot quieter without the engine fan, the electric fans never came on when on the highway, only when idling or in traffic. It's only a matter of time till I do the same thing on my '95, I think about it every time I hear the clutch fan roaring when the truck is cold.
