Side Swept Exhaust Exit opinion

Recommended Posts

How do yall like how this guys exhaust exits in front of the rear tire. I was thinking about doing mine like this because being that my truck is lifted and everything is exposed I don't want to see the pipes going over the diff and out the back. Please feel free to give opinions good or bad.

I don't like it, all I can picture is exhaust gases and who knows what else getting plastered all over those expensive wheels and tires!

BTW- Y2KZ71 I took off my duals I couldn't get use to them

I went with a clean look, now they dump out over the axle

My problem is that I don't want them coming straight out the back. I live in a very small farm and ranch community and every cowboy with a truck has them coming out the back on each side of the receiver hitch (of course they don't have a borla SS system). I just want something different to set me apart. The guys around here look like they all went to mufflers-r-us and ordered the #3 cowboy kit with extra cheese.

Hey, that's what I was gonna do!;)  When I install the Hamm headers, I was going do something just like that.  I think it looks pretty good and it is different.  Right now I have the blah look coming straight out the back.

Oh, do you have any more pics or info on that truck?  Even my wife commented on how nice it looks:D  I'm wondering if the exhaust just comes out that side, or is it like that on both sides?

Darn I guess I shouldn't have put this thought into your minds, now it won't be different anymore if all of you guys get this setup. As far as exhaust messing up your rims unless your truck is burning oil then I don't see that happenning. Thats like saying don't go in the mud because it will stain your rims. Anyway the truck was for sale on ebay, you can read more if you go to the link. The cost is cheap in Texas, any muffler (flowmaster,dynomax..ect) single/single or single/dual out the side with tips for $200-$240 installed. The pipes only come out one side because the gas tank is on the other side. Here are some more pictures.

The real reason they stopped is because they thought it was heating up the tires and they didn't want to risk another ford/tire blowout problem. I can speak from experience because I had a 1997 F150 4x4 with 17" wheels with the stock exhaust exit in front of the tires and I never had a problem. Of course I take good care of my trucks. I eventually installed a custom exhaust just like the one pictured above and it was sweet. I never experienced any problems. Our trucks have lift kits with big tires so there is more than enough air circulating under and around the truck to prevent any problems....... No I don't want the #3 exhaust setup with cheese I want a custom exhaust with no cheese.LMFAO

like i said, i """HEARD""" that it could stain the wheels. that could be just uncoated wheels, or just coated wheels, or both, i don't know. i hope this is not true, as i plan a side exit myself, my turndown is to loud in the cab.
