Last project for a while

Recommended Posts

I had been debating on this for a while and with an upcoming excursion with some friends from ZR2.com,I decided it was time for a winch.

I picked the Warn x8000i since it comes standard with a roller fairlead and it's more than enough for my truck.

Next,it was time to choose the mounting options.Seeing as how not many people make much in the way of aftermarket accessories for a ZR2 and I didn't want just a reciever on the front of the truck,I decided to go with Warn's Transformer grill guard,to which I can add the brush arms later if I choose to.

Here is what I started out with

This is with the grill guard alone.

And finally with the winch on the mounting plate.

Anyone who may be considering a winch for their truck should look into this system in my opinion.

The install was not tough at all and it is solid.

The fit and finish is also very nice.

Nice set-up Frank!!!  It doesn't look out of place at all!!!   In fact it couldn't look more in-place than it is!!!  That's got to be one of the best looking winch installs I have seen...

Well you don't have to justify it to me Frank, that looks great!!  Really looks good on your truck, not too big or obnoxious.   Hopefully you won't have to use it to save your yZR2k, but it'd sure be nice to have!

I got it as kind of a precaution since the people that are on the same huntig lease that I'm on believe in four wheelers more than four wheel drive trucks but it will be used for work more often than anything else.

I appreciate the compliments guys and I may be open to pulling other brands out with it but that's not set in stone. ;)

Well,good thing that it's on.

I found out the hard way last Sunday that the actuator for my 4wd has gone out and my truck almost went into a pretty big ditch.Attempts to pull it out only made it slide closer to the ditch so it HAD to be wincehd out.

Possibly the best investment I've made on the truck to date for that reason alone.

I normally don't like the way winches our mounted, but that one looks really good on your truck.  I guess it is just the way it kind of blends with the grill guard or something.  Definetly looks good.  Glad to hear it is getting some use too.

Once again, thanks for all of the compliments. It's good to hear that it fits cosmetically while being functional.

I got the truck out of the shop today (good service seing as how it went in at 5 am this morning) and it turned out not to be the actuator but it was a bad vacuum line.

Talk about a stupid problem.
