Lund Interceptor bugshield owners...

Recommended Posts

How does this bugshield attach to the hood?  I've seen where some people said there is no drilling and I'm just wondering if it's like the Auto-Ventshade Bugflector II, where you put some small plugs in the square holes under the edge of the hood.  I tried a Lund Trident once on my '99, for about a day, but didn't like it.  I caused a whistling sound at higher speeds.

I took my Bugflector II off because it started cracking from each of the mouning holes.  The worst ones being the ones on the end.  Those cracks were long enough that they were starting to turn up and going along the front side of the bugshield.

i forget offhand but i believe there are 5 screws.  Line up the bug shield and used a screw driver to put the screws into predrilled holes under the hood.  Very easy.  So far no problems with mine i really like it

Tom,

I've got a Lund Interceptor on my '01 YXL and have had no problems at all.  You are correct in that there are plugs that fit into exisiting holes in the hood (the plugs are similar to the ones you put in the front bumper to hold a license plate).  If you go that route, you may want to put a washer between the screw and the deflector.  I found that I didn't like the way the screw head fit (it was a little too small) so with a washer, it helps spread the contact area out.

I also haven't had any problems with wind disturbing the mirrors or windshield gasket.

I probably noticed it about a year after I installed it.  I kept an eye on it for several months and it slowly got worse, so I removed it in November.  I just ordered a Lund Avenger (a little lower profile than the Interceptor)  on Monday to put back on there.
