step bars

Recommended Posts

Yep! I have a buddy who has his step bars Rhino Lined. They took the step pads off of the bars, smoothed out where the pad was, then sprayed the whole thing. They look good and rugged now. Best part about it is that the Rhino Liner is guaranteed. Any problems with it and he brings them back for a new coat. I think they will spray anything with that stuff if you want it. I've even seen ATV racks sprayed before. Hope this helps ya Paco.  :)

Roofer do you happen to know how much he paid for them to be rhino lined?

Guy at rhino linings said they dont like to do tubular things because it doesnt always bond well

Do you guys know if there is much difference between Signature Series Westin Bars and their Platinum CPS series?  I'd like to get a pair for my Av, but they only offer the signature series for now.  Any reason to wait for the chrome plated stainless bars which may be out in Jan or Feb?

The signature series bars are not stainless steel.  Personally, I'd wait for the stainless steel.  I've got stainless steel stuff over the years and have always been happy with it.  I costs a little more, but I think it's worth it in the long run.  I had some stainless steel bed rails on my '91 Silverado for 9 years, and there was never any rust on them the whole time.

Good luck with your descision.

Pictures???  I'm debating on chrome or black.  What color is your truck?  Mine is Indigo Blue.  How's the catback sound?  Any increase in performance?  I'm looking into an FIPK for the Av.  K&B said it should be available soon.

I'll charge up the digital camera and try to snap some shots tomorrow after I wash the truck and turn it from brown back to white.  I went with black bars because the only chrome on the truck is the horizontal bar across the grill.  (Maybe I'll get that painted white.)

The Gibson is very mellow - just enough sound to remind you it's not a minivan.  I feel I have more torque in the 1500-2000 RPM range.  I'm also interested in a FIPK when they are available.  Maybe a Hypertech, too.  And something to get rid of that nose-down attitude.  And maybe some tires that fill up the wheelwells.  and...

I've decided I'm gonna have some fun with this truck.  Shouldn't be too long before my wife reminds me that we're grandparents and our ride should be somewhat respectable.  I'll remind her that I went with the respectable Gibson rather than the Flowmaster 40.  ;)

I'm not a big fan of nerfbars or sidesteps myself. 'bout the only steps I really like are the Kodiaks. I got my chrome nerfs because my fiance was having a hard time getting into the truck, along with other passengers. I am 6'1" and can still get into my truck w/ a slight hop. I went with the chrome ones and I don't think they look that bad. Hell, can't beat them for 50 bucks! I just don't like how they hang down so far...
