Anybody lift a 2500HD yet?

Recommended Posts

I've got a 2001 2500HD LT crew cab short box, 8.1L and the 5spd Allison tranny. I am going up 6" and will be running 35/12.5/R16 Swamper SSR's - Still deciding on what wheels to use.

As far as I can tell Superlift and RCD are the only two companies that currently make lifts for this truck.

I had a 4-6" Superlift on my '95 Z71 ext cab with 33" BFG's and never had a problem with it (over 100K lifted mi on it) so I am leaning towards the Superlift.

Anybody have any first hand experience with either ?

Here is another one, I am unsure of the lift but the tires are 38" on Weld sidewinders.

That red one must have a Whiplash or whatever those lifts are called that are 10"+, to run that big of tires and sit that high. Sweet trucks, but I think I would rather drive the black one, because the truck would be able to handle 35's alot better than 38's. Of course, who knows what mods are on that Red truck.

Mad Dog, what gears you running?

Roofer,

At the moment I've still got the stock 3.73's. I am going to increase the tires from 30.5" to 34.8" which is a 14.2% increase.

So 3.73 increased by 14.2% would be 4.26 gears (no such thing) so I'm going with the 4.56's.

That will give me slight lower gearing than I have now,  but with the increased rotational mass I will probably end up about the same (using the seat of the pants meter).

4.56's will be awesome! From what I have read, that ius the best mod a guy can do. Have fun with it and let us know what you do and how it progresses.

The Black CC is 4X4tx's, he is on this forum......and yes his ride is kick-###!!:)

I love those AE rims he has on that truck.  Best looking 8-lug rims I've ever seen.  Whenever I order my 2500HD I'm getting it with the cheapest rims and tires GM offers (tires are too small anyways). First stop will probably be at my tire dealer to put a set of those rims and some Cooper tires on them....

gm needs some bigger wheels an tires as factory equip. on those things...get rid of dem puny lil wheels an tires

I agree. Almost all 3/4 ton of any brand come with 245's. My thought is that this is the cheapest tire that has the load range needed. So I guess their is a reason, but it's not for the buyer.???
