Western Chasis 3" leaf spring

Recommended Posts

I want to do a 2/5 drop on my truck.  I already have the rear shackles, so I was thinking about going with a 3" leaf.  Then if it started to settle too much, or sat too low I could up it 1" with the shackle.

So, my questions are:

How will this leaf spring ride?

How will it affect towing?  (I will add helper bags down the road)

Will I have to do a C-notch for a 5"?

Is there a better way to do a 5" drop?

The rear of your truck is 2" higher than the front. If you lower the front 2" and the rear 5" then the rear will sit lower and look kind of odd. I would recommend a 2/4 drop. You already have the shackles so just add the hangers in the rear and that will give you the 4" drop. If you want 5" in the rear then you could go with a 3" in the front to even things out. I know with a 6" rear drop they recommend a C-notch however Ground Force has a new kit that they say allows you to keep your frame intact. I just installed their key-way system to drop my C3 3" in the front and ChassisTech shackles and hangers for a 4" drop in the rear. I don't know much about the leaf springs. Most people I know of either do the shackles and hangers for 4" or a axle flip kit for 6". You do need to get new shocks since you will have much shorter suspension travel. Hope this helps.
