Questions on 2000 Silverado Accessories?

Recommended Posts

:)Hi, everyone. I'm new to posting here, although I've been reading for a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks ago, I traded my '89 C1500 Silverado LB w/242,100+ miles on it, (Best truck I ever owned) for a 2000 K2500 Silverado X-Cab LB w/6.0 V8. I hope I did the right thing. Am considering accessories, and need some input!     1) Consdered Husky Liners and Catch-Alls, am leaning toward Huskys. I can get them on the Net for $49.99 + $6.95 shipping. Anyone know of anyplace cheaper?                 2) Am leaning toward Luverne SS side entry steps, although the DTA's look pretty sturdy, too. Any preferences/experiences? 3) Have DeeZee plastic bed rail caps on order, but the GM caps look like they might be sturdier. Any preferences/experiences? Also, anyone know what the GM plastic caps cost for a 2000 LB?           4) Anyone have any experience w/GM's folding bed cover? Also, anyone know who makes GM's accessories? I'm betting they don't make their own.               5) Finally, on my '89, I was able to get chrome door edge guards from GM that were already preformed to fit the curve of the door and protect the door edges. Does anyone know if they are still available for the 2000's ?             Sorry for the length here, but I really need some input! TIA!                                  Best Wishes,             JDH

First off welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase.  I would stick w/ the gm bed rail caps.  You can get parts cheaper online, go to http://www.partszoneonline.com/ and email Bill about them.  I know mountaineertom has them on his truck.  You can look in the product experience forum for some more info.  The huskys are good and I haven't heard anythingnegative about them.  I was thinking of getting a set for myself.

Thanks, Chevy 4x4 Trucks. I have been looking at some of this stuff on the Net. On the Huskys, (Hope it's ok to say this here.) the best price I've found so far is at Cabela's. That's why I was wondering if anybody has seen a better price than that.  Thanks again!                                     JDH

Not yet on the pics. I should take some. I'm also a little technologically challenged, I guess. I need to get around to getting set up w/a scanner, which would probably help. The truck is in really good shape, though. According to what I've been told, it's a GM program vehicle which was formerly in the possession of the Janesville, WI school district. I'll work on some pictures. Thanks again!                                            JDH

Ive had my husky liners for over a yr now.  I paid $49.99 for the fronts

Check http://www.carparts.com

If they have the huskys i know a 10% off code i could give you

About the door trim guards.  I seen these for the 99's+ at a local parts place last wk in black and chrome.  They are out there just gotta look hard.

STICK WITH THE GM BEDCAPS!!!  My wades like to come untaped at times.  Tom has a set and they look really good i am thinking of switching possibly after winter

Hope all this helped

Check your local shops on the Husky floor liners.  I found them for $140 for both front sides and complete rear.

I think I am getting the Pro-Comp Bed Caps from 4wheelparts.com, they were around $45, can't beat that.  My original choice was the Bushwacker Diamondback Bed Caps, but they were almost $50 more.

Also, on the steps check out Kodiak Sidewinder Steps.  They stay up under the truck until you open the door, then they swing out.  Pretty neat design, and they look real sturdy too.  A guy on Fullsizechevy.com has them.  I think they are around $180-$200 each.

That's what I  know for now, If I can help you more just send me a PM.

Jon, although the truck came from Janesville, WI, I bought the truck from the Chevy dealer at Washington, IA. I am from Burlington, IA, about 1 hr. SE of Washington.              Ryan, thanks for the offer. I checked online, and w/your coupon, their price w/shipping, is real close to Cabela's. Only thing, they didn't show Huskys on their list for 2000 Silverados, although I know they make them. I'd probably have to call them and check.          As far as boards or bars, I'm probably going to go with boards, hence my questions on Luverne's or DTA's. Looks like I may need to look into the GM rail caps a little more, though. Thanks again!    JDH

MountaineerTom, thanks for the info on the door edge guards. I didn't know if they were still available or not. Looks like overall, Performance Products is cheaper, no tax or shipping. Stylin Concepts charges $7+ on shipping, which makes their bottom line higher, though their initial price is cheaper. Can't seem to find anyone much less than Cabela's on the Huskys, though.          Jon, haven't totally made up my mind yet, but it seems to me that boards would offer more splash/splatter protection for the truck body than bars. Thanks again!                   JDH
