Pictures From Western Central Nj

Well, the stereotype about New Jersey seems to be that the whole state is dirty, full of refineries, crowded highways, and that you can't go 15 feet without bumping into someone.

Hopefully these pictures will change your mind. :jester:

These first pictures are on a road about 3 miles from my neighborhood:

These are at an organic farm less than a mile from my house:

And this is a farm about 100 yards behind my house (there's another house, and a road between)

My camera died, and I don't have any extra batteries, so I couldn't get to as many places as I wanted to, but I'll be updating this thread with more pictures/different places throughout the fall.

Yeah I wish we got some damn snow here... About 3" total last year, and about the same the year before. Our last real snow was March of '06, when we got a solid 19", but it melted in three days.

I hate cold when there's no snow. But I freaking love snow. :jester:

I was wondering how long it'd take you to find a nice area of Jersey to take a few pictures in.

Really, though, nice pics...

So, where is that "close" to (that people not-from-there might've heard of)?

OH!! What's that dildo looking thing in the middle of pic 2 and to the right in pic 3?? :jester:

If you love snow, Dan, you just might want to think about moving! 3" of snow? Last winter we had about 15" and the season before about 20" along with a very rare blizzard warning in Dec 06 (yes, the Tulsa NWS office issued it's first blizzard warning ever!). Our seasonal average is about 10 inches. The natives really freak out when snow is in the forecast. As for me, since I'm from the midwest, I'm used to it and can't help but laugh at their panic attacks.

Only Michael would notice that! A farm silo perhaps?

Wow... I'm not sure we've had 3 inches of snow total in the last 3 years around here! :jester:

The last "significant" snow I have pictures of is Valentine's Day of 2004... "maybe" 2 inches.. and it was gone by the next day. I'm not going to clutter up your thread with my pics, but here's a link : It was pretty while it lasted.

Some times, I think I'd like to live somewhere that gets more snow. Other times, I'm glad I don't have to jack with it "every" winter.

Pretty country there. I especially like the missile launcher in pic 2. :jester:

Great idea posting a pic thread about your home area. We should all try to do it. Much like you said - most people would be shocked at what the country looks like around here in Central Texas. I think I'll drag my camera around this week and make a thread about it here. It's not all flat land and tumbleweeds in spite of what you see in the movies!

Yeah sorry it took me so long, I just haven't had the time to go driving around to take pictures. Finding a place to park is the worst. I pretty much had to park in a ditch to get those first pictures.

Yeah I plan on moving to the Rockies a couple years after I graduate. You'll have to listen to me complain about snow for next 4 years, though. :D

Jersey FTMFW!!

Northern NJ is much better though. :P

Northwest Jersey, yes. Northeast Jersey? Eh, not so much. That's the 'crowded/smelly' part. :D

Definitely do it! When I think of Texas, I either think of a city, or a bigass ranch. :jester:

Well, other than several stops in DFW airport, I have only been to Texas once. I flew to DFW and drove to Brownwood. That drive was exactly what you described above in bold. Horrible!!!
