Excessive Turnover Before Starting

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 chevrolet C3500 with the 7.4L.....for some reason it turns over excessively to crank. I put AC delco platinum plugs in it with new wires and changed the fuel filter. Any ideas appreciated. Oh I checked the fuel pressure at the service port and it was 55lbs with the key on.

its either fuel regulator failed or injectors leaking down, and i have heard of the odd case of crankshaft sensor probs, does it start good cold? if so i`d really point to fuel related prob.

i`ve had to change my reg 3 times and injectors twice for this prob, (got bosch injectors now and non-gm reg, no probs yet)

its under the upper intake unfortunatley, although its not to terrible a job to remove this, the regulator is located drivers side of the distributor, the fuel lines come up this side of the back of the engine, you will need some perticularily small internal snap ring pliers to remove the old assy, and it wouldn`t hurt to replace the vacuum hose that runs from the lower intake to this reg,... is pretty short. would probly take 2-3 hours first time i figure, if your truck has no A/C its a breeze....otherwise those darn lines get in the way...
