2500 HD Oil change

Recommended Posts

I picked up my 2500 HD a couple weeks ago and I'm going to change the oil and filter after the break-in period is over. The Helm service manuals are on back order. I have the 6.0 with the oil cooler. Is there anything I need to be aware of when doing the oil change other than increased capacity? I've always done my own work on my vehicles but never had one with a cooler.

Welcome to the forum..

It should be pretty straight forward and just like you're used to.  The only complaint I've heard is that you will most likely spill some of the used oil on the ground and inside the front skid plate area.  I can't verify that though, because I take my truck to the dealer for oil changes.  Some of the reasons I go to the dealer are : It's quick, I don't have a mess to clean up or dirty oil to dispose, and it's documented on the GM service computer that the work was performed...

I also do what Shaner's suggests and let the service department take care of my big blue buddy.  Since the service manager is a friend of mine, I get a pretty good price, and if there are any problems down the road, I've got proof of service.
