Truck stalling when put into reverse or drive

Mine does this when it needs a tune-up.

Not being sarcastic, either. That's kinda my call to get plugs, rotor, cap, etc.

SOunds like you ECM isn't handling Dwell/load very well which is a tell tale sign the rotor and cap could be going bad.  Possibly a bad vacuum advance or no vacuum at all. Of course there could be other problems, but this is the cheapest route first.

 

I trust you are getting sufficient fuel pressure therefore eliminating starvation
