Rough Country 3 Inch Lift With Pics

Recommended Posts

I installed a Rough Country 3 inch lift on my 2008 sierra 1500 extended cab. The lift is great! It is the perfect height and the factory ride is still what i get. The lift was relatively unexpensive and easy to install especially with the help of rough country's customer service. They answered any questions i had and were glad to help me out. i also added recon cab roof lights. All I am waiting for now is a few bucks to buy some BFG all terrains. I have been trying to post pictures but they are too large to post and i dont know how to post them otherwise so here is a collage of three before the lift and three after the lift. I could post more if someone could tell me how to make the file size smaller so i can post the true size pictures. hope you guys like it! Rought country is defintiely the way to go in my opinion if you want a quality but affordable lift!

Can't speak from experience, as I have the Truxxx kit. But I have read several not-so-good things about RC's kit for the GMT900's on here. A couple guys had them and had suspension issues and removed them in favor of another lift. Do a search for more details or maybe they will chime in here.

Truck looks good though. Did you get an alignment yet?

Thanks! yea i love the way it looks. i have had the alignment and it made the truck ride like a dream... just like stock. I have not had any problems with the lift at all so far and even the guy at the alignment shop said that he doesn't like lifts but out of many of the kits hes seen, this one was a complete kit and good to go after the alignment. no squeeks, no rough ride, and great looks. I love it

I hope you have better luck than I did. Watch the upper a arm bushings. Mine were totally gone in about 2,000 miles. They may have improved quality on the parts but when I had mine when it first came out the ball joints the kit came with were absolute garbage, then the second set was trash too. The bolts that secure it to the upper a arm were too short and the zerks were in them already...stripped I might add. Got a refund but man that thing was a big nightmare. Im going BDS in the future.

Resizing might be easier than you think. If you have microsoft power tools you can do it by putting your cursor over the pic, then right clicking it. A drop down menue will appear. Look for "resize pictures." If you have that then just choose medium, which seems to work well on this site and a duplicate, yet, samller pic will appear. Upload that one. Do a goggle search and find the Microsoft site for a free download of the picture resizing tool.

I did raise the back. it came with 1 and a half inch blocks for the back. I just went on a trip this weekend and put about 1300 miles on the truck and everything is still tight as a whistle and i also did a little bit of back country beating on the truck. the ball joints are fine so far after all of that. the bolts that secure them must have been improved because they have extra length to them and are not stripped out by any means. ill look into getting some more pictures tonight as well as getting them resized. any suggestions on picture angles or what you guys would want to see?

Hey mtnmike,

Love how your truck looks in the pics you posted earlier. Did you get around to getting any recent pics to post? We would love to see more of that great truck. Also, how is the rough country 3" lift holding up? Any issues with it?

I hope you have better luck than I did with the RC kit, I installed it onto my 08 GMC Sierra CrewCab and had nothing but problems with the kit from the get go. From the parts not fitting correctly, the supplied hardware being junk, clearance issues and front differential hitting frame etc and to top it off they had horrible customer service as well. Rough Country will never get my business again nor with I ever recommend their POS products. You get what you pay for in my opinion and I found that out the hard way.

If you havn't read my Rough Country post yet click on the link below. Hopefully RC has taken our issues/concerns into account and redesigned their kit or else their fan base is going to just keep getting smaller and smaller.
