How loud is an NP205?

I put my truck in 4 Wheel Drive today for the first time today and man, that front yoke makes a little bit too much noise for me.  It sounds like it's low on fluid, so I parked it up and drove the mighty Ranger back to work until I can get under there and check the fluid - which might be a while since it is still snowing here and it looks like the winds will pick up by the end of the day - woohoo, not.

 

Worse case scenario - if the bearings are fried, what kind of money should I be looking at to get it rebuilt?  It works fine in 4 Wheel Drive, but that front yoke spinning has me worried.
