Got back from the dealer today with no update TSB for the hessitation and stuttering that I am getting in the 1100-1800 RPM range with my new 2002 2500HD Vortec 6.0.  This is sooooooooooooo freak'n annoying too!

Anyone else have this problem.  Feels like your going over bumps when your really just trying to accelerate.

My truck does it too.  I notice it mostly in stop and go traffic.  It has one good "stumble" as it comes up through the revs.  I don't notice it when I accelerate normally, but when I'm putt, putt, putting, it does it alot.  It's going to the dealer in 600 miles for it's first oil change, so I'll let you know if he can do anything...

Just posting this hear in case you might have this problem!!!

OK Guys! At 1,657 miles I took a good hard listen to this beast to try to find out of it's a lifter problem I have or this is the infamous Piston Knock/Spank/Slap/etc..... I had my trusty stethescope and went over it with a fine tooth comb!!!!!

I changed the oil to Royal Purple, which is really awesome stuff and slippery as hell, and to my disbelief absolutely nothing changes and the knock is becoming more apparent as the days go by. I am having this perhaps a little early but I do not listen to the radio or turn on the AC because I want/need to hear this sucker run and run, and knock it does. If you try this you too will hear things you don't want to hear!

This is something that I will not accept after waiting 8-1/2 months for a special-orded truck and having this happen at only about 1000 miles on her!

What a bummer.   $30,000+ and a knock to go with it? Don't like it at all. I also am having a hessitation problem in the 1100-1800 RPM range and they say an update for the manual trans might not occur at all because too few of them are produced and the automatic equipted Vortec software will not work in her? WOW, I'm really excited now!

We will see. Any ideas folks and does this knocking of the piston really "Not harm" the engine as GM has stated? I know FORD has had this problem with the 5.4 a couple of years ago. What should we expect?
