Cai Downsides

What are some of the downsides to a CAI? I'm looking at a Outlaw system and I know everybody seems to love them. But with the hole being in the bottom of the box would I need to worry about water or dirt getting up into the engine? The whole reason I'm looking into a CAI is I'm lifting my truck 6inches and going to run 35's. Seems like I would need to tweak the power a little to compensate for the extra weight so the engine isn't running harder. Is that a smart way of thinking or am I dead wrong?

I not just saying this because I am selling my outlaw kit but just two weeks ago we here as a flooding issue on the roads out side my house from the temps raising and snow melting so I was going through 10" puddles with water going over my roof and no issues with water getting into the intake at all. Believe me I checked right away after I hit the first puddle doing like 25 mph. Hardly any water went under the hood and it was more toward the rear of the engine compartment.

If you don't have deep water issues, the only downside is the extra noise from the intake. And that is a matter of interpretation.

Hot air is less dense, and you get less power from it, so getting cold air into the engine will pick up a few ponies.

i hope you are changing the gearing to compensate for the larger tires to 4:11s or 4:56s if you have not already. thats the correct way to get the motor to work less and to increase your MPG as any stock 3.83 is gonna be terrible with 35s, i ran them before with stock gears.
