Which Programmer

I have been eyeing programmers and want one but was told that it wouldnt help with the power in my truck cuz i have a 5spd...i dont see how that is, if that is so how come they just dont make a trans. programmers to help and cut the other bull. I have an 06 1500 ls regular cab 4.8, plain ass jane, just crusie to it. If i get better fuel thats good cuz i cant complain cuz i have 3.42 gears and just got 19.65 the other day so...also heard a throttle body would help with the power...or a mass flow sensor? Would that help with the power or maybe some headers too? All i have done is the the replacement air filter with the k&n and flowmasters...But do they make one for a manuel or what and which is going to be the best.
