Gm Bulletin On Programing Lmm, Problem?

Found this on another diesel web site. Is it something to worry about if you are using a programer? Or only if you do not roll back to stock if you take the truck in?

Here is the site/forum http://kydtr.com/iboard/index.php?showtopic=16069&hl=

The history function in the module should indicate previous setups or modification. It is a data stream not at all unlike the software installation on your PC. A talented tech can tell you tons about your PC history. But... I'd bet 1 in 1000 techs would ever go there... maybe more if the truck had a driveability issue that they couldn't solve.

Anything altered comes with some degree of risk.

GM is getting tired to fixing guys D-max and Allys under warrenty when they blow them up due to putting on all the mods and stuff. You really can't blame GM when you start looking at the cost of replacing/fixing all the D-max/Ally out there that have blown up due to the Mods put on them. I have also heard that the Tech II with the properly trained person can look back into alot of other PCMs to "see" other mods. But they are mainly look at the D-max guys due to the higher number of Warrenty work on those trucks vs the gassers.

I have talked to alot of GM techs and they basically said that with the new stuff they can check out your PCM pretty good and see when the abuse stuff has been changed or when the trucks have been messed with. Also they said that like anything in life, if you treat the service guys like a butthead they will do the same and try and find a reason not to cover the damage under warrenty. So be nice, because most of those Techs are motorheads like us and like to mod their own rides. Just treat them like we all would like to be treated.
