Wipers On By Themselves

Recommended Posts

I have an '08 Colorado.

My wipers will come on by themselves, whthout me turning the nob/switch. There is no "usual" time this happens, so I can't narrow it down my that. I'll be driving along, and the wipers will make 1 sweep and stop.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is the problem? A bad BCM?

Anyone else having the same problem? Any Canyons having this problem?

Do you have the Rain Sense (I think that's the name) wiper system? The system that automatically comes on when it starts raining. I have a similar problem with my 06 Envoy; mine will swipe sometimes when I hit a bump or adjust my rearview mirror. I believe the problem is in the connection, but naturally the dealership hasn't been able to reproduce the problem.

Cajun,

I don't have the rain sensing wiper, and it doesn't have to be raining when this happens.

I don't know if this applies to your Envoy, but check out GM document ID # 2038649 that states GM is aware of this problem and their engineering dept. is aware of this issue and is working on a fix for it. It went on to say that "Do not replace any parts or attempt any repairs for this concern".

I don't know if this document strictly applies to Colorados/Canyons, or GM overall.
