Just Bought A D-max...already Broke Down! Wtf?

Recommended Posts

Here's what it's doing. The regular "diesel knock" that is given with the sound of every diesel motor, completely goes away when I get off the gas. And when I come to a stop at idle, the "knock" is all over the place, and shakes the entire truck. Also, the motor is stock (no tune, etc.) and is blowing black smoke out the exhaust at idle. And when I give it a little gas, it smokes the sh!t out of everything. What's going on with this thing?? I drove it from Texas to NC Friday, and it ran fine for the most part, but did throw an over boost code half way back. The code went away by itself, and the service engine light is not on right now. Whats going on??

Yes the original warantee is 5 year/ 100,000 miles, but the LB7s get a 7 year 200,000 mile extended warantee for free.

Are there special resrictions to the 7 yr. 200k mile warrantee? Because the dealer that I took the truck to has verified that there is one bad injector, and they are not going to replace it for me.....unless I fork out $1200.

So I went back to the dealer today to talk to the service manager. All I have to say is.....*hole!!! He's trying to pull out everything he can to get me to pay for this. I don't understand. It's not like his dealership would pay for it, GM would. I asked to get the diagnostic in writing. He didn't want to give it to me. His reason for the problem not being associated with the special policy that would cover it....it didn't throw a code. WTF!!! It doesn't have to. The policy says it MAY throw a code. Not 'must' throw a code. And the one part that would immediately link the problem with the special policy is a fuel return flow rate test..........WHICH THEY DIDN'T DO BECAUSE IT DIDN'T THROW A CODE!!! They're suposedly doing the flow rate test now at my request, but I have a feeling the results will be BS anyway.

You might want to head over to dieselplace.com or click on http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=7 where you can look at all the 1st generation issues. You'll be able to read about the guys who have had problems with certain dealers and those dealers who are truly customer oriented. Then, just take your truck to the dealer who they say took care of them - problem solved.

I just read that policy, just sent to customers, now everyone thinks they have the symtoms, but i can't remember if all have to be replaced ,if the balance rates are out of spec, that injector is failed and should be replaced ,ps,keep filters clean, fuel and air .
