Tilt Columns

I would really be curious to know the following; Why when Gm has the most beautiful tilt steering column available on the market, they are putting in those awful andcheap squeeze type columns as in imports,... and in upscale vehicles to boot. Am I the only one to walk out of a showroom at the sight of one of these??? Gm product planners, just what are you thinking????????????? Bought my wife a Buick. She wanted Equinox but it had that crappy column.
