That would certainly change the truck's character. I bet it would increase sales since the towing ability would be improved for those who might want to pull a boat.

I would think it would be better? There's a pretty good weight difference between a Silverado and a Colorado so I would hope that there'd be a margin between the two..

I could easily have been swayed to a Colorado rather than my Silverado, I like the Colorados looks a lot more, but need the towing capacity of my 1/2 ton, I could have settled on a V8 Colorado...

Reminds me I keep hearing the GMT 900 received styling ques from the Colorado and I just can't see it... Beyond the typical GM styling anyways. Large horizontal grille bar, stacked head lights...

I agree. Back in 2000 I originally wanted the Silverado, but the sticker was just too much at the time. I bought my new S-10 ex cab 4x4 for ~ $12k less than the comparably equipped Silverado.

Now the difference is no where near as much since the Colorado/Canyon are so expensive relative to the S-10's and the great rebates on the full size trucks with everyone afraid of gas prices.

I am much happier with my Sierra over my S-10. The only thing I liked better about my S-10 is that it would fit into the garrage. In fact the Sierra gets about the same mileage on the highway as the S-10 got.

Also for towing a full size just handles so much better when pulling a load even if the power is there on the mid-size.

Now, for someone looking for a fast truck the Colorado/Canyon with a 5.3L would be very quick. Top that off with a supercharger and hold on. You would also have the practicality of a pick-up (unlike the SSR) and still be able to go insanely fast.

I'm not saying the Colorados and Canyons are bad rides, but they don't have much to offer when compared to the Nissan and Toyota competitors and sell at a higher price. With exception of the new V8, the I5 is much less powerful than the other V6s.

Like I said, I'm not saying its a bad ride, its just not in the same league as the others. Again, this is my opinion.
