You have seen the ads for the Granatelli MAS that can increase HP, but you have to pay like 300 bucks. Can you just take the stock one, cut out the honeycombs and get a better flowing MAS?

the only reason you need to mod the maf is if you are making HUGE hp.. it does no good otherwise..

GM used the same Delphi MAF in the camaros/firebirds that they do in the pickups. You have to figure they're good for up to 500hp.

i may be mistaken but the honeycomb is there to reduce turbulance and to make the air flow more smoothly over the sensors

I was wondering about that, because if you put up a perforated wall wouldn't it make the air more turbulent?

It straightens out airflow across the filaments. Leave it be. Removing it does more harm than good.

I am curious about that. The Z06's are descreened....anyone know why?

I removed mine and no problems. I can't really say that there are any gains without the screen, but to me it has to flow more air with it removed. Z06 probably doesn't have screen to allow for more air. Just my opinion.

? People say the same thing about the firescreen in 4 stroke MX bikes. But, I just leave mine in on the bikes.

 

As for the trucks, I guess they don't have them on the '07s, when I put the intake on my Denali all that was there is a 'wing' in the middle, and no screen what so ever.
